Industrial parks in the South are the traditional destinations of most foreign direct investment enterprises in Vietnam. Some localities were pushed to develop industry very early, right when the Government of Vietnam set the goal of promoting industrialization and modernization in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Binh Duong can be considered the industrial capital in the Southern region. According to the planning approved by the Prime Minister, Binh Duong province by 2020 will have 34 industrial parks with a total scale of 14,790 hectares. And up to now, 29 Binh Duong industrial parks have been established and 27 industrial parks have been put into operation. However, because of hot development over a long period of time, industrial parks in Binh Duong have an occupancy rate of more than 88%.
