CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES AND ACCEPTANCE OF FLOORING WORK

1. Technical requirements for construction of plastering work

Materials: The screed material must meet technical requirements on quality and color.

Base layer:

The base layer must be flat, stable, have adhesion to the screed material and be cleaned of impurities. In case the base layer has concave positions larger than the screed thickness of 20mm, it must be compensated with corresponding materials before screeding. For convex positions higher than the required base layer surface, it must be leveled before screeding.

When it is necessary to divide cells or expansion joints, this work must be prepared before screeding. If the design does not specify, then (3¸4) m will make an expansion joint by cutting across the screed layer, taking the expansion joint width to be (5¸8) mm, when the expansion joint is completed, it will be filled with elastic or self-healing material.

Before screeding, the base layer and hidden parts (pre-buried details, waterproofing, technical systems, etc.) must be inspected and accepted.

Quality of screeding:

The screed surface must meet the color requirements as designed.

The tolerances on the screed surface must not exceed the required values ​​in Table 3.

For surfaces requiring coloring, depending on the weather, humidity and air temperature, coloring can be done after the final layer of mortar is finished. Coloring is done by spreading a layer of cement powder or a thin layer of cement paste and using a trowel or a machine to smooth the surface. Coloring must be completed before the screed material finishes the hardening process.

In case the smooth surface requires polishing, the polishing process by machine is carried out simultaneously with the patching of local dents and scratches on the surface. When starting to polish, it is necessary to ensure that the smooth material has enough strength to withstand grinding.

The line work is only carried out after the smoothing work is completed. The lines must be even in width, depth and sharp. If using a roller with anti-slip particles, roll immediately when the colored cement layer has not yet hardened.

Safety when leveling:

When leveling, you must comply with current regulations on safety at work and fire prevention and fighting.

If using a surface trowel to perform leveling work, workers must be trained in operating the machine before starting work. Pay attention to electrical safety and prevent abrasive waste from splashing into the body.

2. Construction process

Preparation of the base layer:

The base layer must be prepared according to the design, if the design does not specify, then according to the requirements of the manufacturer of the screed material. The base layer must be flat and stable.

The base layer must be adherent, cleaned and moistened before screeding.

In case of manual screeding, standard screed height markers must be attached to the surface of the base layer with the distance between the markers not exceeding 3m.

Preparation of screeding materials:

The screeding material must be of the correct type, quality and color. The mixing, use and preservation of the screeding material must comply with the requirements of the material manufacturer. The screeding material can be cement-sand mortar or polymer mortar.

The screeding material must comply with TCVN 4314: 1986.

Screeding tools include trowels, polishing trowels, 3m rulers, rulers, levelers or surveying machines, hand trowels or trowels, hammers, and spike rollers.

Smoothing:

Spread the smoothing material evenly on the surface of the base layer, higher than the standard elevation mark. Use a trowel to pound the smoothing material to make it solid and adhere firmly to the base layer. Use a level to flatten it to the level of the mark. Then use a trowel to smooth it.

For large smoothing surfaces, a machine must be used to smooth the surface. Smoothing by machine is performed in the following order: use a surveying machine to position the track of the smoothing machine on the smoothing area, adjust the machine's feet to the appropriate height, supply the smoothing material to the smoothing area, control the machine to use a small roller to roll on the smoothing surface and the trowel blade to smooth it.

For smoothing surfaces on concrete floors with requirements such as; hardening the surface to resist abrasion, acid ... must comply with the design; or technical requirements of the material manufacturer. If the design does not specify, construction must follow the order; after pouring the concrete base for (1¸2) hours, spread the surface hardener evenly. Wait until the hardener hardens, use a floor trowel to smooth the surface. After polishing the surface, a maintenance layer can be sprayed.

In case the final layer is made of cement-sand mortar, the largest aggregate particle size should not exceed 2mm; smooth the surface according to the design slope.

Maintenance:

In hot, dry weather, after finishing the screed (1¸2) hours; cover the screed surface with a layer of moisture-retaining material, water for 5 days.

Do not walk or collide strongly on the screed surface within 12 hours after screeding.

For outdoor screeds, there must be measures to protect against the sun; and prevent rain from pouring for (1¸3) days after screeding.

3. Inspection and acceptance

• Check

Quality inspection of paving and leveling works of construction works; in order and including the criteria in Table 4.

The surface must be flat, without any local bumps or concavities, and the error in elevation and slope must not exceed the values ​​in Table 1 and Table 3.

The height difference between the two edges of adjacent paving materials must not exceed the values ​​in Table 2.

The slope and direction of the paving surface must be in accordance with the design. If there are any convex or concave areas that exceed the allowable limit, they must be re-smoothed.

The adhesion and solidity of the bonding material or the paving material to the base layer must be checked by tapping lightly on the paving surface. If there is a popping sound, it must be peeled off and repaired.

With wooden paving, there is no vibration or noise when walking up.

With soft paving, the paving surface is not bulging, not wrinkled, not curved at the edges, and there is no sign of slipping.

• Acceptance

Acceptance of the screeding work is carried out at the site. The acceptance records include:

• Minutes of acceptance of the quality of the screeding material.
• Minutes of acceptance of the quality of the bonding material.
• Minutes of acceptance of the base layer.
• Completed design documents or instructions on completion in the design documents of the project.
• Complete drawings of the screeding work.
• Construction diary.
